I’m the Baby They Could Never Have Had!

My mommy cried and cried,
When the doctor told her I was inside.
The timing was not right in her life,
There is going to be so much strife.
When she told my daddy, he was so mad,
He said this is so very bad.

Kill it, kill it, was his cry,
This baby certainly must die.
It’s not a life, it’s just a cell,
He said he knew that very well.

My daddy gave her some money,
Said, kill it, get on with your life, honey.
My mommy told him, no! no! no!
He told her that she had to go.

My mommy said this is a life,
I can’t make it a sacrifice.
My daddy soon moved far away,
I don’t know who he is today.

My mommy loves Jesus, she had to pray,
Jesus told her to let me stay.
He said everything will be alright,
But she was going to have to fight.

I’m not just a single cell,
My mommy knew that very well.
I have a mouth, eyes and a nose,
I have ten fingers and ten toes.

I have a heart and a brain,
Please don’t cause me any pain!
My mommy knew there would be strife,
But this was really a precious life.

I soon started to grow and grow,
Soon my mommy started to show.
People called her name after name
My mommy was so full of shame.

I’ll raise this baby on my own,
There will be so much love shown.
She worked so hard, she went to school,
People called her a stupid fool.

She wanted to keep me, she really did,
People told her she flipped her lid.
I heard my mommy cry at night,
But Jesus told her it will be all right.

My mommy said she really tried,
To fight to keep this baby inside.
She couldn’t find a place for us to live,
And her parents wouldn’t forgive.

She picked up the phone and made a call,
She’d find me new parents, that is all.

The first call she made was to planned parenthood
She said she couldn’t kill her baby, they said she could.
You’re only a teen, what can I say,
You must kill your baby, come see us today.
We’ll stab your baby in the head,
Pull it out, when it’s dead.

The next call she made was to a pregnancy center,
You will feel so much love when you enter.
You’re only a teen, what can I say,
You must give up your baby, come see us today.

Abortion is not an option,
You must put your baby up for adoption.
We’ll find a good home with tender loving care,
And your baby will be loved growing up there.

My mommy’s belly grew and grew,
And that is when my mommy knew.
My baby’s coming very soon,
It could be this morning, night or noon.

Soon out into the world I came,
I didn’t even have a name.
My mommy held me, she cried and cried,
She told me that she really tried.
She wanted to keep me, but now I must go,
She is the mommy I never would know.

A few minutes later, two people walked in,
They gave her a hug, and they tickled my chin.
They said God finally answered their prayer,
And they have so much love for me to share.

They said that they loved me and wanted me bad,
To make up for the baby they could never have had.

My mommy and daddy cried tears of joy,
They didn’t care if I was a girl or a boy.
They threw a big party when I came,
They even gave me their family name.

They sent invitations, they left it be known,
They were bringing a baby into their home.
My new mommy and daddy love me so,
They said they will never let me go.

If my mommy would’ve killed me,
This new family wouldn’t be.
My new mommy and daddy would be so sad,
Because I’m the baby they could never have had.
